Six Senses Banana Smoothie

When I am on holiday it’s safe to say that breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. When I am at home it’s a meal I’d happily sacrifice, but on holiday it becomes a monumental feast that no day is complete without. The day simply doesn’t start until I’ve had at least three courses, and nowhere does breakfast better than Six Senses. Each resort is different depending on its location, but the thread that runs through their breakfast service is distinctively Six Senses. Something they have at every location, or at least all the ones I have visited, is a drinks and smoothies station full of home-made smoothies, juices, milks and milk alternatives, champagne, and even a selection of purees to make your own breakfast bellini’s.

One of my favourite things is their banana smoothie; creamy and sweet with a sligtht tang from the yoghurt it’s something I end up having most days. When I return from my trip I go through a few weeks of being obsessed with having this in the mornings so as to take me back - even if just for a moment

There are lots of banana smoothie recipes out there that vary along the same theme. Here I like to use frozen bananas to thicken the drink - I always have a bunch of bananas on the go and never ever throw them away. They are always broken into four pieces put into a ziplock bag in the freezer so they’re ready for smoothie action whenever i need them. You could make this a peanut butter and banana smoothie by adding two teaspoons of natural peanut butter or perhaps make a chocolate version with 2 tsp cacao nibs or powder. I prefer cacao powder as it makes it just like a chocolate milkshake!

I use this Ninja blender which was a gift from the brand. I really recommend their blenders as I had the previous version for seven years - it’s still going strong at my in-law’s house!
