Boozy White Hot Chocolate

White+Hot+Chocolate.jpg

If you like Milky Bars you’re going to love this indulgent winter treat.

When Aldi launched a limited edition white chocolate liqueur just in time for Christmas, I knew I had to try it. As a long-term lover of Bailey’s, particularly when it’s in hot chocolate I immediately trotted off to Aldi to see if I could get my hot little hands on the stuff. I’d heard it sells out quickly but it was 10am and the shelves were full and I headed home feeling very happy with myself and a bottle of the elixir in my hot little hand.

This drink tastes a but like a Milky Way hot chocolate and doesn’t need any white hot chocolate powder so it’s easy to make. Just make sure the milk is hot enough to melt the chocolate. This makes enough for one little treat but can easily scaled up or down if you want to make it for more people.

INGREDIENTS - Serves One

30-40g White chocolate (I think a bar of chocolate is best rather than chocolate chips which sometimes aren’t great quality.)

100ml Milk

50ml White Chocolate Liqueur

Whipped cream to top and a few chocolate shavings if you’re feeling fancy

  1. Use a sharp knife to cut the chocolate into thin shards so it’s easy to melt. Or if you’re not confident with that, just cut it up into the smallest pieces you can so it’s easier for it to melt.

  2. Heat up the milk until it’s piping hot but not boiling and then add most of the chocolate shards and give it a good stir until the chocolate is melted.

  3. Add 50ml of the white chocolate liqueur and then top up with some cream (optional) and the remainder of the chocolate shards.
